What's my tang size?

Hitch Receiver / Tang Sizes

Hitch receivers (tangs) come in four primary sizes: 1-¼”, 2", 2-½", and 3". The numbers refer to the dimensions of the receiver opening.

To find out what size tang you have, measure the height and width of the hitch receiver opening.

The most common tang size is 2”. Most pickups, SUVs, and some sedans have this size. Some smaller SUVs and cars will have a 1-¼” tang.
